Begin in five minutes
- Name the situation. Choose one focal system and one time window: a project over the past week, rather than your whole life.
- Describe before interpreting. Write what was happening and what is becoming different. Begin with ordinary observations, not a hoped-for card.
- Choose or draw an Echo. Choose deliberately to test an observed pattern, or draw to invite an unfamiliar question. Neither supplies evidence by itself.
- Read the movement and question. Read the path, core meaning, and reflection question, then examine Light, Arrest, Excess, and Prematurity. Shadow is never a verdict about a person.
- Compare, test, and review. Keep one close alternative. Name an observable sign, a small action or observation, and a reason to reconsider. A no-fit reading is allowed.

The seven Primes are verbs

The master cycle, 1 → 2 → 3 → 4 → 5 → 6 → 7 → 1′, organizes the vocabulary. It is not a compulsory sequence or a hierarchy. All 49 combinations are available, including persistence.
Direction is part of the meaning
An Echo is written A:B: Origin becomes or reinforces Destination. Seed (1:5) is Center → Branch; Selection (5:1) is Branch → Center. Both the starting activity and the emerging activity matter.
Diagonal Echoes describe an activity maintaining or reinforcing itself. A diagonal is its own Mirror. Keep cards upright; do not add reversed-card meanings.
Reading the current card face
The coordinate appears in both upper corners. Read the path, the core meaning, and the reflection panel below it; then test Light and all three Shadows. The clock marks Prematurity. The diamond is only a transition cue, not evidence of Threshold crossing; τ recalls Trace. Colors are not moral judgments.

Three different comparison tools
Mirror reverses the coordinate: M(A:B) = B:A. Complement substitutes both Primes using 1↔5, 2↔6, 3↔7, and 4↔4, without reversing their order. A Counter-Echo is a contextually chosen response with no fixed formula. None is automatically a remedy or an appropriate next step.
Echo Distance is the index gap |B − A|, not the shortest path around the cycle and not a measure of severity, speed, probability, difficulty, or worth.
Read Light and all three Shadow modes
Light is constructive expression in context. Shadow is an unworkable expression, not a moral verdict or a label for a person.

| Prematurity | Movement is forced before the Origin can support it. Check any receiving system as well as the part that is changing. |
Ask about ripeness, proportion, and continuity. Did the Origin have the capacity to support the movement? Is the Destination workable? Does it integrate the Trace of what preceded it?
A Threshold is where a possible transition becomes behaviorally or structurally consequential in the stated system and time window. It need not be completely irreversible. Whether change occurred and whether it was constructive are separate judgments.
Distinguish similar movements
Incarnation (1:4) gives coherent potential form. Commitment (5:4) gives one of several possibilities durable form. Foundation (4:4) reinforces an existing structure. Choosing a description does not require an intermediate card.
Ecology (5:6) establishes interdependence; Web (6:6) sustains it. Emergence (6:5) opens capacities through integration; Transcendence (6:7) changes the whole’s organizing identity or rules. A capacity appearing once may not yet be dependable enough to rely on.
Reintegration (7:6) considers both the returning part and the receiving whole. Readiness is not solely the returning part’s responsibility.
Three complete ways to begin
One-card reading
Name the situation and window. Draw or choose one card. Read its path, meaning, question, Light, and all three Shadows. Compare a close alternative. Close with evidence, one small action or observation, and a review point.
Present · Shadow or Missing · Next
Use three cards for the current movement, a difficulty or inaccessible capacity, and a possible continuation. The middle card is not automatically negative: its Light may describe what is missing. The Next card is a possibility, never a forecast.
The seven-card Spiral
Place one card in each question-position: Center, Divide, Relate, Form, Branch, Converge, Return. Any Echo can occupy any position. Compare what each invites you to notice. A spread is not automatically a chain.
Chains and observations
A chain requires matching coordinates: A:B → B:C. Formal continuity does not establish that the events occurred. Keep unobserved gaps visible; never invent a bridge to save the story. A Signature counts observed transitions—not random card draws—and preserves ties, uncertainties, and coverage limits.
Evidence, consent, and a valid no-fit reading
Keep observation, interpretation, and proposed response separate. Compare structure, dynamics, sequence, and consequences across cases; resemblance does not prove identical causes or independent confirmation.
In a shared reading, agree on the question, boundaries, privacy, and whether notes will be kept. Participation must be optional. Accept “that does not fit.” Do not use Shadow to dismiss disagreement or infer an absent person’s private motives.
